This is a real gem of a point. Normanskill chert is usually found in a dark greenish black color in Eastern New York State. Only the rarest pieces have any light apple green in them. This clovis has it all. It was made to be a replica of what is typically found in the archaeological record of New York State. It was percussion fluted with intruding secondary flutes just like many of the Vail style clovis points of old. The flutes ran 1/3 of the way on both sides as is normal for this point type. The apple green banding in this piece is something I've not seen in many pieces. |
