Flintknapping DVD’s by Jim Winn These DVD’s are a project that I started in the summer of 2007. These were originally posted on YouTube in an effort to share some of the skills that I have learned over the years with other flintknappers from around the world. Since posting these on YouTube I have received many requests and inquiries about obtaining these videos on DVD’s. These DVD’s are exactly the same as the videos I have posted on YouTube. However, these were copied directly from my Digital Camcorder onto each DVD and are therefore much higher quality and have far better resolution than the ones posted on YouTube. You can check them out on YouTube at the link below: Jim Winn - http://www.youtube.com/profile?user=paleomanjim These DVD’s vary from 1 hour 43 minutes to 2 hours each.
That’s over 9 hours of Flintknapping video covering a multitude of flintknapping subjects. |

| Long Texas Blade - I made this blade last summer from a large thick tab of Pedernales chert. My goal was a large wide percussion blade, but this rock was tougher than I was. By the time I got the flaking pattern looking good the width was gone, so I finished the blade with pressure flaking using an Ishi stick. This is one of my largest chert points to date. Priority shipping and insurance $10 on this blade. | Laurel Leaf Blade - Here's a big laurel leaf blade I percussioned from a big chunk of Oregon Dacite recently. I was striving to make a replica of a Solutrean laurel leaf, and while it is not as thin as the Volga blades it came out pretty fair. With an average thickness of around 11 mm and a width of 88 mm it has a W/T ratio of around 8/1. Priority shipping and insurance $10 on this blade. | |||
