I'm back! This is the Columbia River Point set I made for the 2023 Flintknapping Calendar published by Derek McLean. All of the material used for these beautiful points comes from the Columbia River Plateau as I wanted to be true to the exact materials used and point types. There are two points included which are not on the main picture grouping but are on the white pages of the calendar but are part of the set. Calendar photo is shown below with the knife double shown to display both faces on the pommel. The hafted knife has a jasper blade, set with pitch into a carved yew wood handle painted with red ochre in the alternating triangles and is wrapped with two ply nettle cord based on an old original I saw. The carved face on both sides of the base is done in mid Columbia style art motif and is based on the famous petroglyph entitled "She Who Watches" other wise know as Tsagaglalal in the Mid Columbia tongue. This set took me several months to complete and I'd like to sell it all as a set. So...here's your chance. I might consider offers if reasonable. |
