Made entirely with abo tools from a spall of Oregon Dacite using hammerstones, antler billets, antler pressure flaker and a leather pad! No copper or modern tools were used. Very fine ribbon flaking, super sharp edges.
Most modern knappers use grinders or FOG to achieve this degree of perfection, bypassing and shortcutting the difficult earlier stages of reduction. This blade demonstrates that it can be done with aboriginal tools and techniques. |
