This is a replica of the pentagonal shaped Afton point that is found in the Mid-western states and sometimes Eastern and Southeastern states. There are many basal forms used on this style of point. I chose one with a contracting stem to copy as these seem to be most the most often found in my surrounding area.
The Afton point is from the Mid-Archaic through the early Woodland periods, making originals ranging between 2,000 and 5,000 years in age. I have tried to replicate in detail the point I used for an example. If you are the purchaser I hope you enjoy this style of point as much as I do. |
