For the guy or gal who has everything...here’s one that’s different. I just completed this art knife from a piece of driftwood I found & so I’m not sure in this case what kind of wood this actually is. It’s the neatest, gnarliest, yet “comfortable in the hand” specimen I have ever come across. I applied a domed “gold toned” Indian head coin replica to the pommel. I then married it to a piece of jasper stone that has beautiful pink & tan wavy grain lines, ground at the edges to look hand knapped. (I bought this slab at a rock & gem show many years ago just to make a special knife one day. But now I find that I cannot remember the specific name or kind of jasper it is? I’ve just surfed ebay & the internet & cannot find any of this stuff for sale anywhere....must be getting scarce?). Anyway, the color hues & textures come together very nicely, & with my sanding, buffing, & polishing technique, it finished out quite nice. I also made the stand, which showcases wood, antler, turquoise & a Southwest concho. The knife itself is 9 3/4” long. This one really does fit nice in your hand....& would look nice on anyone’s mantel! UPDATE...FYI....I finally found someone on the internet selling a slab of this agate. It is known as "Hickoryite." |
