This is a traditionally hand crafted full groove axe. The axe head is made of basalt, and the handle is crafted out of dogwood. The traditional full groove axe and dogwood handle, are mated together with hide glue and real raw hide bindings. I have tried to stay as authentic as possible with this axe. As a reminder this is not a toy. It is an extremely sharp, usable tool. It will make a fine addition to a primitive tool collection.
Once again this is an Authentic Reproduction. Hand pecked and ground with only stone age tools. The handle was cut from the dogwood tree with a stone celt, and then shaped with stone tools, to maintain the authenticity, but it is only a Reproduction of what was used thousands of years ago. |
