A really nice plain platform pipe made from some Kansas Siltstone I traded for a piece of Hematite. The inclusions are beautiful, but I'm afraid that this pipe probably should never be fired up. I don't really know anything about this stone or how it will react to heat. The inclusions might not expand at the same rate as the main brownish siltstone and could potentially crack the bowl/stack.
I have more of this stone and I am going to make another pipe from it but if the inclusions show up at the stack again, I will probably use the rest of the stone for Birdstones or maybe a Bannerstone. |
