I had a customer ask me if I could make a bunch more of those odd tribute points akin to the ones in the old photo I saw recently. He wanted them in plain looking flints just like the old ones. I wasn't too keen on knocking out a bunch of plain colored points (as I really like the pretty colors), but he said he'd pay beyond the normal price as money was no object.....so, ok. I'll find out if he means it or not and see what the other general interest will be. So, I did manage to crank out this one today. Its a weird looker. I think I'll call it a "Pocola Point" after the Pocola Mining Company who were the nefarious guys who dug out the Craig mound and sold who knows how many different kinds of points and artifacts to so many collectors before they got shut down. There's undoubtedly all kinds of different points out there many of us haven't seen yet still squirreled away in old collections. This one is made out of a coarse white material that looks like its from that same area but it flaked well. |
