Here is a very nice Susquehannock pitcher pottery vessel. I modeled this one after a picture of an original that is on display in the Rochester Museum. The pot was hand coiled, hand paddled, decorated with hand tools and cordage wrapped sticks. The clay is a self hardening clay that does not need to be fired. I choose this medium to insure that the pot will never crack or fall apart like some of the original clay fired ones do. I aged this pot to look like it came out of the ground. This is a museum grade replica and I only make about 8 or 9 each year due to the amount of hours put into each one. |
