Here is a beautifully coloured tan and pink dovetail reproduction. As you may or may not know the dove tail point has a bevel on each side of the blade which is usually found on the left hand side of the point. Notice I said usually. There are a few occasions where the bevel is on the right hand side of the point blade. This is one of those occasions. It was done on purpose to copy a point that my cousin has that he found here in the valley. I say copy because there is no way that I can nor probably never will be able to master the flaking style of the individual who made it, along with many other similar points we have found here. Having said that, I used a more traditional flaking pattern on this point which was a transverse pattern. The flake scars are not prominent due to my using aboriginal tooling. |
