Hopper Creek Group Campground is a beautiful camping area in the National Forest that dates to the CCC era. This area is stunning with mountain streams all over, lots of open mown ground, big trees and shade, space for dozens of tents, tables and portable shelters, a huge fire ring and a public vault toilet. Tents are the rule in this camping area.

This is a primitive skills meetup and event. There is no schedule or structure other than the opening and closing timeframes. Disciplines include but are not limited to: archery, atlatl, pottery, cordage, shelter, flintknapping and other lithics, food gathering and preparation. Come and share what you know, show off what you have made and learn from others. Or just come and watch. No admission fee but contributions toward our modest rent fees for the grounds will be gladly accepted.

Things will be opened up Friday July 12th at 11 am and closed out Tuesday the 16th at 11 am. Participants will want to bring all provisions. We will provide firewood, iced down water and drinks. We suggest you bring all the food you need, and drinking water. We ask for a non-binding RSVP so we can do a rough head count. Our user fee goes up with a larger group size. There is a spring nearby with piped water (Elk Creek), and a great country store (T-Pees) within a few miles. Bring: Insect spray, food, water, shelter, things to work on and show, and good time intentions. Chairs or buckets to sit on. Leave: muscle dogs, loud things, intoxication. Feel free to contact co-hosts Bill Seebeck (540-338-0977) or Pete Davis (540-462-7488) with questions not answered here. Primitive pottery firing Saturday night at the ring, weather permitting. Let's all show the USFS that we are true stewards. Consider bringing trash bags and take away all that you bring in.
